Frazer Church Visits Mtendere

January started with some stress, but then became filled with encouragement! We were supposed to return to school after the Christmas holidays on January 3rd, 2023. Everything was set and ready to go, and then the government announced that two districts within Malawi would not be able to open school due to the spread of Cholera within those districts. We belong to one of the shutdown districts. Oh man, we all immediately had COVID PTSD! However, after the two week mandatory shutdown, we were able to open schools on January 17th! (Yes, the Cholera situation is still wreaking havoc on parts of our country, and we are praying as a country for alleviation of the sickness and health restored to those who are fighting. Thankfully, we have remained healthy at our schools and within our community, and we pray that the Lord’s protection will continue!)

On January 14th, three members of Frazer Church in Montgomery, Alabama landed in Lilongwe at Kamuzu International Airport and ventured over to Mtendere Village for a visit. We were so excited to receive these visitors who came in representation of a church that had helped make a big dream come true. In December 2021, Frazer Church raised and donated a huge sum of money for us to build two new school buildings at our secondary school. Many of you have kept up with the process along the way. It was so fun to get to show them the physical fruit of the seeds they helped sow into Mtendere Christian Academy. Even though their luggage never left Atlanta and they had to borrow and make do during their entire stay, these three visitors came with open hearts, big smiles and loads of encouragement. Frazer Church, you were well represented!

Their visit was quick with a tight schedule, but we so enjoyed sharing meals, playing games, reading books, chatting, taking pictures and learning together. Thank you Frazer Church for investing in the education of all learners at Mtendere Village Primary School and Mtendere Christian Academy! Your monetary contribution, on the ground visit and most importantly, prayers of blessings towards all of us at Mtendere are proof that Christ’s Church transcends language, space and time.
